The grant that supports this project was awarded in spring 2010, and the grant began in July 2010. In the first six months of the grant, we sent individuals to the Society of American Archivists DACS workshop, conducted site visits with each of the seven participating institutions, and searched for and awarded contracts to two consulting archivists. Over the next year, those archivists will spend a total of six weeks with each institution to work on systems for collection description and plan for program development at each institution. Beginning in July 2011, six of the seven institutions will join Northwest Digital Archives and expose their collections through that site. And in Spring 2012, we’ll close the project with a one-day forum on advocacy for archival programs at liberal-arts colleges. We’re delighted to work on this project, and even happier to have most tangible work happening at last.
