Concordia University in Portland holds archival material in three primary collecting areas – university archives, records of the Northwest District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and research materials held as part of the Center for Volga German Research. Material types include the usual suspects: office files, yearbooks, course catalogs, publications, correspondence, minutes, photographic images, and audio/visual materials, to name a few.
CU is well-prepared to join NWDA in July. Archivists’ Toolkit is already in use, as is Oxygen XML editing software, and a good many finding aids are ready to upload. During my time on-site, we’ll be concentrating on advocacy and outreach, in addition to formalizing the policies and procedures already in place.
