Week four was spent completing the project documents – collection survey, policy and procedure manual, and advocacy and outreach suggestions. The manual, in particular, will need to be tested over the next several months and any necessary modifications or additions incorporated during the follow-up visit. The required 33 finding aids have all been added to Archivists’ Toolkit and are ready to upload to the NWDA website on July 1st. They include a mix of collections from the University, Northwest District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and the Center for Volga German Studies.

University Librarian Brent Mai and I also met with University leadership to initiate a discussion about establishing a formal university-wide mandate to collect and preserve institutional records. More on that discussion as it develops.

It’s amazing how fast four weeks goes by. My time at Concordia ends today and I’ll be heading home to Idaho for several months, then returning in late spring for the follow-up visits to Concordia and George Fox. That will be followed by visits to Linfield College and Pacific University later this summer.
